PRIVATE LESSONS

Teaching Philosophy

Experience exceptional instruction with Jesse Andreasen in his well-equipped teaching and recording studio, located in historic Amherst, NH.

Jesse has over two decades of teaching experience and resources to offer students of all ages- from beginner to advanced levels. His approach to teaching caters to a student’s personal goals and interests, according to their particular learning style. Jesse recommends a balance of learning technique, music reading, music theory, songs in various styles, and improvisation. However, he will never force students to learn something that does not fit their goals and interests.

Jesse always does his best to go the extra mile in order to support a student. This may mean helping a student choose a new instrument at the music store, or attending a student’s performance at the local open mic. If this sounds like the kind of learning experience you want to have, then contact Jesse today and get started.

Instruments We Teach

But wait...there's more!

Instrument Maintenance

In addition to learning how to play your instrument, we can perform instrument maintenance and small repairs in-house. Services include fingerboard cleaning, restringing, setups, jack and switch repairs, etc.

Students are also encouraged to learn how to maintain their own instruments. This can be done in the context of a weekly lesson, or as a separate session.

*Setup and repair services are available to anyone, not just enrolled students.

Music Theory

Jesse loves to teach people practical music theory- things that will help you understand more about the inner workings of music, how to play solos over different songs, or even how to write your own music.

Topics covered include keys, scales, intervals, rhythm, harmony, composition, ear training and more.

*Music theory can be taught in the context of private instrument lessons, or as a standalone subject for anyone, whether you play an instrument or not.

Music Production Basics

Did you know that some of today’s hit songs were recorded with just a laptop and a microphone in an apartment?

Are you interested in recording your own music or collaborating with others? Learn about the tools and techniques used to produce music in the 21st century.

*Students will need to purchase certain equipment (if they do not already own it) in order to fully engage in this class.
